Building a Wine Cellar the Right Way

Ageing your wine requires a specific room temperature. That is why you have to be careful, when creating a cellar. You need to consider important reminders to come up with a perfect condition for the drinks, which will make them taste really great.

First, you have to make sure that condensation and moisture inside the cellar is not too much. If you are going to use timber as a building material for the room, you need to have a vapour barrier. Rock or plastic sheets, for example, keep out dampness well.

When it comes to flooring materials, you can choose from many types. These include ceramic, tile and sealed concrete. If you want to avoid mould from accumulating, never lay down carpet or rug.

For the wine shelves, you can go for moist-resistant and durable wooden materials like Purple Heart and teak. You can also use maple or oak. On the other hand, do not make cabinets out of aromatic wood like cedar because it can taint the wine.
