Chateau Valandraud Saint-Emilion 1995

Rarity places a hefty price on this rather bold blend of wine. It comes from a small 35-acre château, which is why it is not produced in such great quantities. However, drinkers attest to the heights of pleasure that its taste induces. Its aroma is sweet with raspberry and suave with oak, along with notes of smoked duck. It enters the mouth like a ribbon of ruby-coloured velvet and surprises the tongue with its sweetness.

Its fruity flavours are balanced by a spicy taste that is created by defined yet subtle tannins. It has a slightly roasted tone to it and holds on persistently, sweetly, long after one has taken the last swallow. It is much worth its price at approximately $668 (£454 or €507)
