Mid-palate Range Phase
The process gets more interesting in this part. As the wine touches your palate, you will be able to distinguish different flavours. Red wine can contain hints of red fruits like cherry, strawberry, cranberry and raspberry. It can also remind you of blueberry, prune, cassis, blackberry and plum. There will also be woody tones of oak, pine, cedar and smokiness. Other tastes you will sense include vanilla, dairy, vegetable, spicy, earthy, tobacco and leather.

Taste of citrus fruits
On the other hand, white wine might taste of citrus fruits like lemon and orange, as well as white fruits like pear, melon, peach and apple. There may be a floral tone like honeysuckle and rose, a herbaceous note freshly-cut grass or a mineral-like flavour like slate and stone. Tropical fruits, such as lychee, banana and pineapple, as well as hazelnut or almond nuts may be present in the wine too. Sweet honey or salty sherry might also contribute to the overall taste of white wine.
