Toast for Good Health
Several studies have shown that wine can indeed have positive effects on the body. As a matter of fact, wine drinkers have been proven to have less coronary heart diseases and much healthier blood vessels than most non-drinking individuals. These heart benefits are due to the chemicals generally found in wine, such as antioxidants, resveratol and bioflavinoids. In addition, these chemicals have a direct effect on cholesterol as well — they lower the amount of bad cholesterol while raising the levels of good cholesterol. Lastly, studies also show that drinking wine lowers the risk of incurring certain types of cancer. Of course, the catch is always to drink in moderation. Just as studies have shown positive effects of moderate wine drinking, they also show that excessive drinking can produce ill effects instead.
